The Blue Island Police Department is seeking Part-Time Police Officers. This position is
responsible for the prevention, detection, and investigation of crime while actively promoting
and directing citizen engagement.
The ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instruction, exercise initiative
and discretion in emergency situations, demonstrate proficiency in the use of firearms, take
decisive action based upon department policy and training, and deal with the public in a
respectful manner.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Qualified applicants must have:
- a valid IL driver’s license and a high school diploma or GED.
- Active law enforcement service within the past 5 years at time of application is highly
preferred.
- Possess a valid Illinois State Certification of Law Enforcement Officer, in accordance with ILCS
50/705.
- Preferred qualifications include thorough knowledge of the laws and ordinances of the City,
State, and federal governments.
- Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including holidays and weekends; no more than
28 hours per week
Salary
Depending on qualifications, the salary will range from $23.00 to $27.00 per hour. Applications
