We are currently looking to fill hourly Community School Teachers roles to join our Community Schools Initiative team!
Our Community Schools operate during non-school hours and expand positive choices and opportunities for youth while achieving academic success.
SALARY:
The average hourly rate for this position will fall in the range of $22.00 to $30.00. Where candidates fall in this range will be based on skill and experience level. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for tutoring and classroom instruction for after school time programs. Implementing curriculum used by classroom teachers in classes.
Provides instruction in classroom in cooperation with other after school time teaching staff.
Observes and assesses teachers in the classroom to ensure that the teaching methods and activities for children are appropriate. Provides feedback to classroom teachers.
Ensures that teachers adhere to guidelines.
Provides leadership in developing the Out of School time program as a model intergenerational site.
Responsible for maintaining an environment that appropriately addresses the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive needs of the children.
Ensures appropriate child guidance and discipline.
Provides consultation, training, and resource information to staff.
Participates in planning and implementation of ongoing in-service training and orientation for staff and parents. Builds and ensures positive and on-going relationships with parents.
Coordinates the completion of required monthly reports and enrollment forms, CAP forms and CAP observation checklists.
Tracks and provides support to teaching staff for ongoing observation and documentation process by teaching staff of the Focused Portfolios.
Works effectively with diverse staff and service population.
Handle routine student discipline in the classroom, referring students to the OST coordinator as necessary.
Act as a liaison to classroom teachers as appropriate and requested.
Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree.
Experience working in a school setting managing, leading, or engaging school-age youth and adolescents.
Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
Available to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and some weekends.
Works independently with minimum supervision. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Satisfactorily pass all relevant screening and criminal background checks. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle, and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch.
The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, and viewing a computer terminal.
The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
